A and I had a dinner date at CNR, a new little ‘raw’ cafe/restaurant in the heart of Northbridge. The atmosphere was great, cosy couches are available to spend your afternoon lazying in, long tables for big groups and the menu looked great. Me and my extremely hungry tummy were ready get down to business…..
To start we ordered an almond milk shake – strawberry flavoured (my fave!) which was yummy, I downed it in two seconds flat.
For our entree we shared the ‘savoury cakes’ which are chickpea and sweet-potato patties, with a cashew mint aioli
For our main we shared the raw nachos, which consisted of home-made raw corn chips with a pineapple salsa, guacamole and cashew sour cream.
OK, do you want the good or bad news first? Let’s go with good. The food was healthy, had plenty of gluten free options, it was tasty + fresh and love had gone into the dishes.
Bad news. It took 50 minutes to arrive on our table with only 2 other couples in the restaurant, we had to ask for our side plates + the waitress wasn’t very friendly, you would think for a Friday night they would be a little more prepared.
I unfortunately won’t be going back in a hurry (especially when I am starving). Although I love raw food and I think it is great that restaurants/cafes like CNR are opening up – I completely commend the owners, they need to pick up their game a little bit, waiting 50 minutes for two small dishes in my book is not acceptable. However, if you want a quiet place to bury yourself in study or a book with a acai smoothie, then this place is ideal for you.
